The Technical Project Manager will oversee and manage client projects, ensuring their successful delivery on time, within scope, and on budget. This role requires a proactive approach, strong technical acumen, and exceptional client management skills. You will work closely with clients, internal stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to ensure project goals are achieved.
Expectations for Success
- Client Relationship Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, managing communication, project expectations, and overall satisfaction.
- Build and maintain strong, long-lasting client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and technical consultant.
- Project Management:
- Lead and manage multiple technical projects simultaneously, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and client requirements.
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, goals, deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements.
- Manage project risks and issues, proactively identifying potential challenges and working on solutions.
- Coordinate with internal teams (engineering, product, support) to ensure seamless execution of projects.
- Track project performance to analyse the successful completion of short- and long-term goals.
- Technical Consulting:
- Serve as a subject matter expert in Ookla's suite of products, particularly Speedtest and its enterprise solutions.
- Translate complex technical requirements into actionable project plans and communicate these effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Provide technical guidance to clients, offering solutions that align with their business needs and objectives.
- Telecom Industry Expertise:
- Use your in-depth knowledge of the telecom industry to support the development of tailored solutions for telecom clients.
- Understand industry trends, challenges, and opportunities, applying this knowledge to guide project direction and client consultation.
- Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with Sales, Engineering, Product, and Support teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Collaborate with internal teams to understand project requirements and ensure alignment with the client’s objectives.
- Facilitate communication across departments to ensure a unified approach to client needs and technical solutions.
Requirements

- Telecom Industry Experience:
- 5 - 10 years of experience working in the telecoms industry, ideally in roles involving project management or technical account management with a focus on optimisation.
- Project Management Expertise:
- Proven experience managing multiple simultaneous technical projects for different clients, particularly in fast-paced environments.
- Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., JIRA, Asana, Microsoft Project, etc.) and methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall).
- Demonstrated ability to deliver projects on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Strong organisational and multitasking abilities, with experience in managing competing priorities.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Familiarity with networking technologies, internet performance metrics, and telecom infrastructure.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues and suggest efficient solutions.
- Client-Focused:
- Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage client expectations and foster long-term relationships.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to translate client needs into technical requirements.
- Leadership and Communication:
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across teams and departments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and inspire collaboration to achieve project goals.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with global clients, particularly in the telecom sector.
- Familiarity with Ookla’s suite of products, including Speedtest, Speedtest Intelligence, and other network testing tools.
